At the 2022 CAFWCL, the Nigeria women’s team Bayelsa Queens won Nigeria’s first CAF Women Champions League medal after a third place finish, which took place at the Stade Moulay Hassan in Morocco on November 12, 2022.

On Saturday, Bayelsa Queens of Nigeria defeated their opponent from Tanzania, Simba Queens 1-0 in the third-place match.

During the first half of the match, there was no goal scored by either of the teams, although Glory Edet and Etim Edidiong were close to a breakthrough with good chances for the Bayelsa but Simba Queens hit back with opportunities of their own.

In the second half of the match, however similar to the opening 46 minutes with both sides looking for a decisive breakthrough, Juliet Sunday scored the winning goal for Bayelsa Queens in the 71st minute to win the bronze medal for Nigeria.

The Simba Queens almost came close to parity when a brutal attempt by Clement was saved by Bayelsa’s Bawou Gabrielle.

Bawou Ange Gabrielle, Bayelsa Queens and Cameroon’s safe hands bagged the Woman of the Match award for incredible performance against Simba Queens SC in the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League bronze medal match.

Out of five games, the Prosperity Girls won three and lost the other two to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa and ASFAR FC of Morocco.

In addition, the ASFAR FC of Morocco and Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa emerged as final two in the 2022 CAFWCL.
