Ahead of the 2022 World Cup to take place in Qatar, the Ghanaian national football team defeated their counterpart Switzerland in an international friendly which took place on Thursday, 17th November, 2022 at the Baniyas Club Stadium, United Arab Emirates.
The Black Stars defeated Switzerland by two goals to nil, which was secured in second half by Southampton’s Mohammed Salisu and Bristol City’s Antoine Semenyo in 71st minute and and 73rd minute of the match.
The Ghanaian team has been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay. The Black Stars will later take on South Korea on November 28 and Uruguay on December 2.
The coach for the Ghanaian team, Otto Addo has called up a number of Premier League players for the tournament, including Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey, Leicester’s Daniel Amartey, Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew and Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, amongst others.
With The exception of Partey, all these players took part in the friendly match over Switzerland.
Regardless of their defeat, the European team has been drawn in Group G, and will take on Cameroon (24 November), Serbia (28 November) and Brazil (2 December).
The Black Stars win has put smiles on the faces of Ghanaians as they have suffered a poor run of results this year.
