The Angola team took the trophy at the 2022 African Cup of Nations women’s handball tournament on Saturday with a victory over Cameroon by 29-19, in the tournament held in Dakar, Senegal.

This will be the fourth time in a row for the Palancas Negras to win the African Cup of Nations women’s handball, which makes it the 15th continental title for them this year.

Catito Nelson, the Team’s coach said: “It’s the fruit of a lot of hard work, Angola has taken the lead over other African teams”.

“We must continue to work hard to improve our handball and keep the dominance so that this group of athletes continues to play at the highest level and win titles for Angola”, he added.

On the other hand, the Cameroon coach, Serge Guebogo said: “Faced with a team like Angola with so many qualities: physical qualities, technical qualities, mental qualities and a great tactical sense, it does not forgive”.

He added that the defeat simply means they have to go back to their roots and work to close the gap between Angola and other nations.

Although they might have encountered and resisted the most complicated moments in the 25th edition of the women’s handball ACN, Angolan victory over Cameroon confirms their unbeatable dominance.

However , Angola, Cameroon, Congo and Senegal are amongst the first four classified and qualified for the next World cup.

In the history of Angola, they only lost one final in 1991, in Cairo, Egypt
