On the 13th of March, 2015 the then housing Minister Mostafa Madbouly at the Egypt Economic Development Conference announced the project of a new capital city in Cairo, Egypt.
It is one of the programs and projects for economic development; part of a larger initiative called Egypt Vision 2030.
This city is located 45 kilometers or 28 miles East of Cairo just outside the second greater Cairo Ring Road, in a largely yet to be developed area halfway to the Seaport city of Suez.
The city will inhabit 6.5million people. The major reason for the undertaking of this project is to relieve decongestion in Cairo.
The new city will be the new administrative and financial capital of Egypt, it will house the main government departments and ministries and foreign embassies.
Recently, Egypt inaugurated this new city and named it Mansoura.
