Fulbe Africa Organization (FA), an international cultural organisation has announced to celebrate its 10th International Cultural Festival from 25th to 26th December, 2022 to be staged at Q-City multipurpose recreation center in Gambia.
The Director of Communication for FA, Musa Baldeh explained that the annual event is geared towards uniting the Fulbe people all over Africa as well as celebrating the rich culture and tradition of the people.
The event which is held annually brings people together from different parts of Africa and the Diaspora, as the recent one held in Farafenni in Gambia attracted over 4000 people from Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and other countries in the sub-region.
Baldeh revealed that the upcoming event will be celebrated in two parts as the main conference which is expected to gather key actors in the promotion of peace and security and a host of key stakeholders will be held on the first day 25th December.
The second part which is on 26th will be a cultural night designed to showcase the rich Fulbe culture in a bid to preserve and promote it among young people, which will be based on the following thematic areas: promotion of cultural heritage; climate change; harmful cultural practices; girl child education and discouraging child marriage, and peace and security.
The two-day event will host a number of guest acts including the revered Fulbe musician, Alhagie Baaba Maal of the Daande Lenyol Band from Senegal, and Alphadio Dara from Guinea Conakry.
The Fulbe people are also known as the Fulanis in Nigeria, the Fula or the Peul in Francophone West Africa.
