Africa has always been rich in tourist centers and it boosts the economy of most African countries but after the COVID 19 pandemic, the revenue gotten from tourism in most countries diminished drastically and has been struggling to recover. 

Albeit, Morocco revenue reached MAD 71.10 billion which converts to $6.74 billion at the end of October, this was stated in the new data from foreign exchange.

This has exceeded the record reached at the end of october 2019 which was prior to the COVID 19 era. 

Fatima Zahra Ammor, Morocco’s minister of tourism said last month that the country’s tourism industry reached a recovery rate of 80% at the end of October, exceeding the global level of recovery at 70%. “Morocco’s tourism revenues in foreign currency rose to 103% at the end of September compared to pre-covid figures in 2019” the minister of tourism added. The overnight stays rose to 45% from 30% before the pandemic as of late September.

The minister of tourism stressed that the government has committed to recovering the tourism sector, she recalled the mobilization of 2 billion Dirhams to back the tourism sector of which 1 billion Dirham Was dedicated to the rehabilitation of hotel units and she stated that this initiative has had a positive impact on the sector.

The data presented represents an increase by 4 billion; this reflects the ongoing recovery of the tourism sector.
