Minister of works and housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola announced last week Thursday that the second Niger bridge leading to Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria will be open for movement on the 15th of December to ease the experience of those who will travel for the festive season.

It was inaugurated on Wednesday, 14th of December and the minister of works and housing announced it will be open to vehicular movement from 12:00 am the next day. 

The first driver to ply the road was Sunday Emem who drove past by 9:50am. During an interview he expressed his excitement at the new road, Sunday said “I feel so happy at least it will reduce the hold up. We stayed over one hour at the other bridge”.

Mr. Babatunde Fashola during the inspection, counseled road users plying the bridge to drive safely and responsibly in order not to defeat the purpose of the construction.

He also noted that the opening of the second bridge will alleviate the sufferings of the motoring public who always experience gridlock during festive seasons.
