In anticipation of the 8th edition of the All-Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), the Senegalese Ministry of Tourism, and the African Union Commission have rolled out plans for the music festival and awards ceremony scheduled to take place from 12th to 15th January, 2023.

Earlier in November, Senegal was unveiled as the host for the 8th edition of AFRIMA at the Joint Media World Conference held at the Hotel King Fahd Royal Palace in the country’s capital Dakar.

The Representative to the Senegalese Minister of Tourism Souleymane Bakhayoko retold its commitment to achieving the joint objectives of the AU and AFRIMA by utilising music as a tool to develop Africa’s creative economy.

The music festival which is tagged the ‘Terange Edition’ will be held at the 15000 capacity Dakar Arena and the live Awards ceremony to be broadcasted by 104 TV stations to over 84 countries around the world.

Speaking on the event’s itinerary, Mike Dada the President & Executive producer AFRIMA said that the 8th edition is not another regular music festival, as they are an institution committed to promoting African music across the globe.

The AFRIMA country Director for Senegal, Mahkar Diop said the ‘Teranga Edition’ is not just for Senegal but for everyone.
