The African Development Fund contributes to the promotion of economic and social development in 38 least developed African countries by providing concessional funding for projects and programs, as well as technical assistance for studies and capacity-building activities.
It provides low income regional members with grants, loans, technical assistance and supports projects that alleviates poverty and encourage economic development.
During the Fund’s 16th replenish meeting held in Tangier from the 5th to the 6th of December, 2022, Morocco contributed $5 million.
During the meeting, the African Development Partners agreed to commit a total package of $8.9 billion to its 2023 to 2025 financing life which will be the largest replenish in the history of Funds with 14.24% increase from the last replenish.
The Fund has helped connect people to access improved agriculture and also helped 42 million people access water and sanitation.
The president of the fund highlighted the importance of this meeting to the continent as it opens up new fields of opportunity and new prospects for 40 African countries.
