The Great Museum of Africa is an idea child of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. It is a museum that will showcase, protect, and promote the rich cultural heritage of the continent.

It will be hosted by the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Algiers on behalf of the continent.

The Great Museum is in a very strategic position between the ministry of foreign affairs and ministry of culture and with a good view of the city of Algiers which will allow it to attract a large number of visitors to the Great Museum of Africa.

The technical and advisory committee for the establishment and launching of the museum has been inaugurated. This committee is made up of representatives from African Union member states selected on a regional basis and some other independent and culture heritage experts.

The Great Museum of Africa is planned to be launched in 2023 as part of the first ten-year implementation plan of agenda 2063.
