James Momodu Dao Samba is a 20 year old Sierra Leonean software engineering student, a self taught mechanical engineer and also an innovator.
In late August, 2022, Samba divulged his first locally made 100% electric shuttle minibus. He mentioned that the inspiration of this innovation came owing to the disability of his uncle.
The electric minibus is fully designed and built in Sierra Leon; it is built from 50% locally sourced materials. It is also powered by a self installed solar panel or alternatively, an external electric source.
It is equipped with self recharging capability, it is a 10-seater and 100% disabled friendly. It can also cover a distance of up to 150km when fully charged and can additionally cover 100km with direct solar-assisted power.
Samba also guaranteed that the Electric Shuttle Minibus should be expected to be in full commercial use in the next two months after registration and other legal terms are met.
With the rising of fuel crisis, this innovation is a highly welcomed one.
