The President of Liberia George Manneh Weah has commissioned the Emirates Hospital in Gbarpolu County aided by the UAE in the north of the country, which was under the directives of the UAE leadership.
The commissioning had an opening ceremony that was attended by Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, the Minister of State, and Staff Brigadier Dr. Aysha Sultan, and a number of officials from both sides.
The Liberian President, during the ceremony expressed his gratitude to the UAE’s President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the initiative and the kind support to the Liberian people.
The initiative involves UAE’s determination to build bridges of cooperation and support other countries and people around the world.
President George Weah said while giving his speech “the construction of the hospital in Gbarpolu County contributes to supporting the health sector in Liberia and providing treatment, diagnostic and prevention services to many people in Liberia and surrounding areas”.
Representative of His Highness, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nayhan Al Nahyan also extended the greeting of His Highness the president and wished the country continuous progress.
The newly inaugurated hospital covers an area of 80,000 square meters, has a capacity of 125 beads and all modern facilities. It is also powered by a solar system.
It will provide medical services and treatments to residents of Gbarpolu and surrounding areas like Sierra Leone which is located close to the Liberian border in Kongba County.
