Senegal continues to develop relations with Ukraine in facilitating shipments of Ukrainian agricultural produce.

This was announced on Monday during a press briefing in Kiev by the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Minister, Nikolai Solsky.

According to the Minister, he said “there have been meetings in Ghana, Senegal, and Nigeria. These countries regularly take a lot of food products, especially wheat, they are major markets from the standpoint of their populations compared to the European market or many other countries”.

Solsky said he has visited each country and they are interested in developing cooperation with Ukraine and also ready to expand the capacity of their ports by increasing the volume of Ukrainian grain unloaded and stored there.

He added that after the Ukrainian delegation visited Africa, the Ukrainian government is setting out plans to hold a special conference to address ways to expand relations with Senegal, Ghana, and Nigeria.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food also signed a memorandum of understanding to develop cooperation with Senegal in the agricultural sector.

Furthermore, in a few months, under the Grain from Ukraine initiative, the country is to ship 25,000 tonnes of grain to Nigeria.
