The Zimbabwe and Belarus government set to begin their business forum in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe which started in 2019 with both parties signing a Memorandum of Understanding for enhanced mutual cooperation.

The meeting is scheduled to take place during a state visit of the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko to the Southern African country to strengthen their engagements on increasing industrial productivity through technology transfer.

The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) will lead the business forum, which will entail a series of business meetings with their Belarus partners, focused on areas of agriculture, manufacturing, and equipment among other areas.

Mr. Christopher Mugaga, the CEO of ZNNC, says he is positive that the meetings will benefit Zimbabwe. 

He said: “We are excited as the private sector to be engaging our counterparts from Belarus where we envisage coming up with meaningful business deals that will strengthen our various sectors all for the benefit of our dear country”.

The deal is expected to benefit both parties as Zimbabwe’s agricultural and industrial reform process has benefitted so much from the Zimbabwe-Belarus economic diplomacy.

In 2019, the forum was held under the theme “Expanding Horizons: Dynamic Solutions for Economic Turnaround”, where issues of bilateral trade, economic and cooperation, and the possibilities of expanding the spheres of interaction were discussed.

The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
