The Hadejia Valley Irrigation Scheme of 5,700 hectares, located in the Auyo council area of Jigawa state, Nigeria was inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as a significant contribution to Nigeria’s expedition for food security, job creation, and economic diversification.
Following the commissioning of several projects carried out by the Federal Government and the State government of Jigawa, a banquet ceremony was organized for the president in Dutse.
Speaking on the occasion, the president encouraged the host community to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the massive irrigation infrastructure, stating that “it will be a small part in our overall quest to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years”.
He further urged the state government to continue being committed to the agricultural sector, commending the success of the Cluster System, sloganed ‘Farming is a Business’.
The President also inaugurated other projects located in four local government areas including the Birnin Kudu Specialist Hospital, Malam Alu Integrated Agro-Allied Farm, Birnin Kudu, and the dual Unity-Pentagon-Fanisau Road.
He concluded by saying “I was truly amazed by the extent of projects and programs executed across all sectors”.
