According to an official document released by the Daily Maverick news site, the South African government is taking into consideration a sponsorship deal worth $52 million with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspurs.
The statement reports that the contract is geared toward the promotion of South Africa as a travel destination although the country is considering financing a wealthy football club.
It added that the details of the three-year deal are on the brink of being finalized through the marketing branch of South Africa tourism.
The report also read that the South African president, Cyril Ramaphosa will make an announcement for the deal on 10th February during his state of the Nation Address, although there are no remarks from the president or the minister of tourism yet.
Tottenham Hotspur is an English premier league professional football club located in London, England. It is one of the top flight teams of English football.
The Rwandan government has also had a funding deal worth more than $42 million that involved a “Visit Rwanda” logo exhibited on Arsenal short sleeves.
