The Somalian Mogadishu Aden Adde International Airport (MGQ) sets to have direct flights on a daily service from the Dubai-Based airline, flydubai from 9th March 2023.
Flydubai announced the launch on Tuesday 14th February and plans to double the frequency of flights from the 1st of June 2023.
This is the first carrier connecting Somalia directly with Dubai and the United Arab Emirates.
The Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai, Hamad Obaidalla said “East Africa has seen significant economic growth and development in recent years, our direct flights will further stimulate the economy and help create free flows of travel and trade”.
Also, subsequently, the carrier plans to expand its network in Africa to 11 other destinations, providing passengers from the UAE its base, and the region with more convenient traveling options.
These other destinations include Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Alexandria (Egypt), Asmara (Eritrea), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Djibouti, Entebbe (Uganda), Hargeisa, Khartoum (Sudan), Juba (South Sudan), and Zanzibar.
