• Zimbabwe’s tourism industry wins three important awards at the ongoing International Tourism Bourse in Germany.
• The country won the Natural Beauty in Africa destination of the year award.

After bagging three important honors at the ongoing International Tourism Bourse in Berlin, Germany, ZIMBABWE has demonstrated why it is one of the top tourist destinations in the world.

The International Tourism Bourse, one of the largest tourism trade events in the world, was taking place when the Awards were held.

The award comes as the Zimbabwe tourism industry begins to recover from the disastrous consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused travel throughout the world to be suspended for almost two years.

Zimbabwe won the Natural Beauty in Africa destination of the year award, the Minister of Environment, Tourism, and Hospitality Industry, Hon. Mangaliso Ndhlovu, was named the best African Minister of the Year, and Ms. Winnie Muchanyuka, CEO of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, won the Professional Destination Management Award.

Minister Ndlovu, who is in charge of the Zimbabwean delegation at the expo, praised the cooperation shown in ensuring that Brand Zimbabwe continues to entice foreign consumers.

“This is nice to be recognized for marketing destination Zimbabwe,” Minister Ndlovu said. “The Fair offers a venue for making business contacts in the travel and hospitality sectors”, he added.

The Head of the Zimbabwe Tourist Authority, Ms. Winnie Muchanyuka, emphasized the value of the ITB in fostering economic ties for Zimbabwe.

“The IBT Fair provides a gateway for Zimbabwe to attract investment and partnership in the tourist industry,” claimed Ms. Chakanyuka. 

ITB is the largest tourism trade fair in the world. It is an annual event that usually takes place in March at the Messe Berlin. Many companies are represented at the fair including hotels, tourist boards, tour operators, system providers, airlines, and car rental companies.
