A football talent hunt program called the ‘Davido Dream Football Show’ (DDFS) has been birthed through a partnership of Nigerian music star Davido, Abu Salami Media, and 1XBet, which is aimed at promoting youth football, mainly at the grassroots level by providing a structured curriculum to develop fundamental technical skills and tactical awareness in young players who desire to compete at the highest levels of football.
On Tuesday, at the official unveiling of the initiative which took place during a media presentation held at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, the CEO of Abu Salami Media and Chairman of DDFS, Mr. Abu Salami explained that the program is focused on empowering and supporting young male football talent around the age of 18 to 22 in Nigeria and across Africa.
Mr. Salami further disclosed that DDFS would be a 30-week reality TV series with one episode airing each week. A screening procedure for registered participants will be conducted first, and then there will be a series of trials to choose the greatest skills. The chosen talents will then go through camping for the grand finale where they will get more training and compete for the top award.
As the president of DDFS, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido expressed his excitement for the program’s potential to have an impact on young football players in Nigeria and Africa. He noted that the impact is key and the show will not only engage the kids’ imagination but also give rise to significant opportunities for youth throughout Nigeria and Africa.
There would be scheduled screenings for selection across Nigeria as the selection process will be based on skill, attitude, and commitment. Also, selected talents will also get the opportunity to train and participate in trials with partner clubs in Europe as part of the program, giving them exposure to opportunities in international football.
