UK-based satellite operator Avanti Communications announced the appointment of Jumoke Akande as its Chief Marketing Officer in Nigeria, who previously held the position of Product Development Manager at MainOne Cable Company.
In a statement by Avanti Communications, Akande occupies the position of the Chief Marketing Officer of its new offices in Lagos, Nigeria, and will work closely with the company’s teams across the world. She has a dutiful responsibility for developing an integrated channel strategy across significant sectors including mobility, enterprise, defense, and education.
In expressing confidence in her selection, Avanti Communications revealed that Akande has more than 20 years of experience in creating and implementing go-to-market strategies across the telecommunication sectors.
According to the Chief Operating Officer of Avanti, Libby Barr said that Akand’s new position will be pivotal in accelerating Avanti’d rollout across Africa. “I am delighted to welcome Jumoke to our growing team of senior executives in Nigeria. Jumoke is a proven leader with over 20 years of experience in marketing and joins us at an exciting time”, the COO said.
She explained that Jumoke’s considerable background in leading teams across markets and launching significant campaigns in Africa was what stood out as they are eager to see how her strategic insight in this recently created position. “Her experience will be vital in helping Avanti reach its growth ambitions over the next few years”, she added.
Avanti Communications said in the statement that Akande had previously held the position of an Associate Director at GICL/IHS Towers where she managed the fiber and rural telephony marketing strategy as well as a senior role at Dell Technologies. She also consulted for leading multinational organizations in Africa including MTN Nigeria.
