Dozy Mmobuosi, a football investor and billionaire, is sponsoring the Dozy Mmobuosi Super Cup Football Tournament, a bigger and more profitable football competition in Nigeria with a record-breaking prize fund of 1.2 billion.
Twelve of the top Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs will compete in the event, with each team getting a $20 million appearance fee. The victorious team will take home $1 billion, and the runners-up will get $200 million. The decision to increase the tournament’s size was taken in response to stakeholders’ and fans’ growing desire for more elite football competition.
Mmobuosi underlined that the additional financing would enable organizations to devote more funds to personnel, facilities, and infrastructure, luring elite players to the league and boosting the level of football in Nigeria as a whole. The event will be put on by the Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation under the direction of the Nigeria Premier Football League Ltd by Guaranty in collaboration with the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Additionally, Mmobuosi is almost ready to purchase Championship team Sheffield United is significant. The English Football League (EFL) is still investigating his ongoing attempts to purchase the franchise.
Mmobuosi is also a Nigerian fintech entrepreneur in talks with United’s current owner, Prince Abdullah bin Musa’ad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The EFL hierarchy is also researching the funding and business options of Mmobuosi.
Tingo Inc., the business owned by Mmobuosi, recently released its most recent financial figures following an audit by a Deloitte branch based in the US. Members of Mmobuosi’s inner circle feel that the statistics should give his application more credibility even though they are not intended to hasten the EFL’s decision-making process.
