In a historic event, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was inaugurated as Nigeria’s president at a ceremony held at the Abuja National Stadium today.
Tinubu has long been a leading figure in Nigerian politics, having served as a national assembly member as well as governor of Lagos State. He was declared winner of the February 25th presidential election.
At the inauguration ceremony, both Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had kind words for Tinubu and the country’s future. In his address, Buhari praised Tinubu’s commitment to economic opportunities and improved education. Osinbajo also highlighted the significance of Tinubu’s rise to power, noting that it proves that Nigeria is a nation that rewards hard work and dedication.
The ceremony concluded with Tinubu addressing the cheering crowd. The new president reassured the public that he will listen to all voices and ensure the nation’s diversity is respected. Throughout the ceremony, his main message was that Nigeria is a land of opportunity and hope, and he will lead the country as a protector of that hope.
Olukayode Ariwoola, the Chief Justice of the Federation, solemnly swore in Tinubu as the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at 10:40 am, and shortly after administered the oath of office to the Vice President, Kashim Shettima.
Today is a milestone for the nation, and Tinubu’s inauguration marks a new era for Nigeria.
