The government has put in the effort to tackle and mitigate the crime rate, ill-discipline, and lack of patriotism. The Lesotho Defence Force Youth Development has initiated a boot camp program for young people from the age of 14-22 years.
Lesotho’s military is made up of more than 100,000 young men and women. The country’s army is the second largest in Africa after South Africa. It is also the largest in South Africa, with more than 30,000 soldiers.
In a bid to address the pressing issues of rampant crime, ill-discipline, and lack of patriotism among the youth, the Lesotho Defence Force Youth Development has taken a proactive approach by introducing a rigorous boot camp program. This program is a 21-day-long program that has a unique funding model; it is paid for by the parents or guardian and sponsored by the business community and non-governmental organizations. This collaborative effort highlights the shared commitment to invest in the development and future success of Lesotho’s youth. By providing the necessary resources, both financial and mentorship-based, the program aims to create a nurturing environment for personal growth and character development.
This is the fourth cohort of the Lesotho Defence Force boot camp intake and for the next three weeks, the vibrant energy in these young men and women will be channeled into shaping a well-rounded member of the society.
