TradeMalta is in Morocco helping firms from Malta take advantage of new prospects and fortify international relationships. TradeMalta is an international business development agency, formed between the Government of Malta and the Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise, and Industry, to help businesses based in Malta grow bigger, better, and faster, in international markets.
TradeMalta organized the first Malta-Morocco business forum in Casablanca. It was followed by a business-to-business matchmaking session which provided an opportunity for the Maltese delegation to discuss potential business opportunities.
Further meetings were planned throughout the mission, mainly with private enterprises, social partners, and government institutions.
The trade delegation was made up of seventeen enterprises from different sectors, including education and training, construction, healthcare, advisory, manufacturing, renewable energy, retail, and risk management.
The delegation was led by the Hon. Dr. Ian Borg, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade. It also included the Malta Enterprise, the University of Malta, MCAST, the Institute of Tourism Services, and Education Malta.
Morocco has a thriving, active economy and a welcoming business climate. It currently boasts a booming tourism industry, significant foreign direct investment, and is developing cutting-edge infrastructure. For Maltese investors looking for export and internationalization prospects, it is undoubtedly a desirable location.
This multi-sector business mission, which took place in Casablanca, aimed to make it possible for companies with headquarters in Malta to grow into new markets, seize new possibilities, and solidify current alliances.
Anton Buttigieg, CEO of TradeMalta commented “The long-term plan is to organize other visits to Morocco and other strategic markets in the coming months. It is encouraging that so many businesses are increasing interest in doing business in Africa. Our visit to Morocco is based on the assessment that Morocco, apart from being an interesting market in itself, is building the institutional capacity and infrastructure to become a gateway to the African continent. TradeMalta encourages Malta-based companies interested in taking their business across borders to approach TradeMalta with their ideas and plans.”
