Nigerian record label championing the Alternative music evolution, Anthems & Vibes Records (AVR) has unveiled its debut self-titled album, Anthems & Vibes Vol.1. AVR is centered on providing entertainment to listeners by exposing new-generation artists from across the continent. It is also dedicated to projecting Nigerian music from Africa to the world, beyond Afrobeats, to bring Alte sounds to the listener’s ears.
The collection of work showcases the abilities of ten alternative musicians, pushing the boundaries of Nigerian music and discovering previously undiscovered soundscapes. Anthem & Vibes Records envisions a market where alternative sounds take center stage, drawing influence from musicians such as Tems and Fave who established themselves in the alternative music scene.
The project begins with Timi Kei’s moving song “Praising the Lord,” and then Dalone’s dreamy “Fire,” which expresses his need for a romantic partner, and Esse VDM’s moving “Duro,” which encourages lovers to cherish their time spent together and walk carefully.
The record label firmly establishes itself as the leading platform exclusively for Alternative music and artists, promoting the development of sounds in Nigeria beyond Afrobeats. Prior hits include Sanki’s “On God,” Mid3’s “Under G,” and Timi Kei’s “Praising the Lord.”
Ambassador Elajoe and Dark Cypha Entertainment are also behind the record. Their backing will highlight how important AVR’s goal is for alternative music in Nigeria. The record, which Francis Isichei executive produced, is a heartfelt tribute to his late wife, who passed away in 2021.
Anthems & Vibes Vol. 1 is more than just a compilation of songs; it’s an audacious proclamation that Alternative music, along with more established genres like Afrobeats, is poised to become the next big thing in culture. It’s also an invitation to participate in the global evolution of Alternative sounds as they come from Nigeria.
