John Dumelo, an actor and politician, graduated with a master’s degree in law from the University of Ghana, Legon. He has now earned three master’s degrees.

On his Instagram feed, Mr. Dumelo posted an image of himself wearing his academic gown along with the announcement.

“I graduated with a Masters Degree in Law(Natural Resources) from the University of Ghana law school today. To God be the Glory!!” he wrote.

John Dumelo is a well-known A-list Ghanaian actor and a successful farmer. He ran as a National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat in the 2020 Ghana general elections.

But in a fierce race against Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the NPP, John Dumelo lost 2073 votes while the incumbent NPP MP received 39,851 votes, with John Dumelo coming in second with 37,778.

In the approaching general elections of 2024, the actor is again running for office. John claims that he was able to close the gap with the current member of parliament, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, in the most recent election by working hard in the seat, which is recognized as a bastion for the ruling New Patriotic Party.

He said on his Facebook earlier this year, “2024 is a must-win in Ayawaso West Wuogon. As a parliamentary candidate in 2020, we closed the gap from 10,000 to under just 1,900 through hard work. It is time to take the seat, let’s all get involved”.

In addition to being a well-known actor worldwide, a career path he began in the early 1990s, Dumelo is an entrepreneur. In 2012, he debuted his apparel brand, J.Melo. It is also known that the actor farms both crops and animals.

John Dumelo emerged as the first Ghanaian to hit a million likes on Facebook.
