South Africa airways commemorates 90 years of resilience and excellence since its establishment on February 1, 1934, making it one of Africa’s oldest and most enduring airlines.

Globally celebrated at its destinations, South African Airways marked the occasion with a movie reception and get-together for top travel agents at its Lagos office in Nigeria.

In an earlier statement, the airline’s CEO, John Lamola, acknowledged South African Airways’ history, acknowledging both its challenges and triumphs. He expressed the commitment to celebrate and reflect on this heritage throughout February while striving to advance SAA’s story as a premier world-class African airline.

Commencing the celebration of the airline’s impressive 90-year journey, Kemi Leke-Bamtefa, the Country Manager in Lagos, expressed gratitude to travel agents, recognizing their exceptional contributions. Their remarkable efforts, acknowledged as pivotal to the airline’s success, place them at the heart of the festivities, and their support is sincerely appreciated.

Reflecting on her decade-long business journey, Abosede Yusuf from Quantum Travels commends South African Airways (SAA) for its consistent support. In the travel industry for the past 10 years, Yusuf appreciates SAA’s dedicated staff who have been instrumental in resolving issues promptly and facilitating smoother sales processes.

She expresses admiration for the airline’s assistance, acknowledging its positive impact on her business. Yusuf extends her best wishes for SAA’s continued growth and success in the industry. While acknowledging the support received, she also encourages the airline not to overlook the interests of travel agents, emphasizing the importance of improved commissions and additional benefits. Her hopeful message signals appreciation for the existing collaboration while advocating for ongoing enhancements that benefit both parties.

Affirming the airline’s longstanding service excellence, Surline Isiagu, CEO of Luchia Travels, highlights a five-year partnership with South African Airways (SAA). Describing SAA as a supportive ally, Isiagu expresses well wishes for the airline’s 90th anniversary.
