The recent opening ceremony of the Young Political Leadership School Africa (YPLSA) Cohort 11 in Monrovia, Liberia, was a great success. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State received widespread praise for his commitment to youth empowerment in Nigeria.

The event, attended by approximately 100 emerging political leaders from various African countries, including Nigeria, featured a keynote address by Liberia’s Vice President, Hon. Jeremiah Koung. He highlighted the importance of investing in the next generation of African leaders.

Koung acknowledged Governor Oborevwori’s impactful initiatives, such as job creation, educational scholarships, and leadership training, which have significantly benefited thousands of young people in Delta State and beyond.

The participation of Nigerian youth in this cohort, made possible through Governor Oborevwori’s support, demonstrates his dedication to youth development across Africa,” noted the NAYMOTE Board Chairperson.

Notable diplomats, including the U.S. Ambassador to Liberia, Amb. Mark Toner, and Anti-Corruption Chairman of Sierra Leone, Francis Ben Kaifala, commended Oborevwori’s leadership and vision. “Empowering the youth is crucial for fighting corruption and promoting good governance. Such initiatives exemplify how investing in young people can build a brighter future,” stated Hon. Kaifala.

Participants of YPLSA Cohort 11 were deeply inspired by Oborevwori’s commitment, with a young leader from Sierra Leone expressing that, “Hearing about the Governor’s work has reinvigorated our drive to bring about change in our own countries.”

As YPLSA Cohort 11 progresses, Governor Oborevwori’s recognition is expected to further inspire collaboration and initiatives across Africa, underscoring the importance of investing in youth for the continent’s advancement and success.
