In collaboration with the Federal Government,  Nigeria’s manufacturing company, BUA Group officially flagged off the expansion and dualization of the 132km Kano-Kazaure-Kongolam highway on Tuesday.

Through the Ministry of Works and Housing, the project is part of the presidential executive order on road infrastructure development and refurbishment investment tax credit scheme.

The project of N116 billion was flagged off by the Minister for Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola during a ceremony held in Kazaure, Jigawa state.

Speaking during the ceremony, Fashola disclosed the BUA Group one of Africa’s largest conglomerates will be the major investor in the project to dualize the road.

The Executive director of BUA Group, Kabiru Rabiu who was recently ranked as Africa’s fourth richest man said the manufacturing company is intensely committed to partnering with the government on important initiatives and projects that will improve infrastructural development.

He said work has started on the road as equipment has been mobilized to the site, assuring the capacity, expertise, and resources of the BUA group to completion of the road on schedule.

Fashola said that the construction would serve as an addition to the ongoing rail infrastructure projects of the federal government in the North-West, as he noted that N348 trillion is needed over a 10-year period to bridge the country’s infrastructure gap and partnership like this is the best way to achieve it.

The minister commended the management of BUA Group for its efforts in infrastructural development.

The expansion of the Kano-Kongolam dual carriage highway will upon completion connect Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina states as it is expected to amplify interstate travel.
