Algeria signed an agreement with foreign firms and this will result in their gas production increasing by 10 billion cubic meters starting in 2024. This was announced by the head of economic studies at the Ministry of Energy and Mines in Algiers, Miloud Mdjelled, who also specified that the state hydrocarbon company Sonatrach had signed agreements with foreign firms last year. Among the foreign firms that agreements have been signed with is ENI, which will develop different projects with investments equal to 6 billion dollars.

While speaking to the mic of the country’s first radio channel, he said “these projects will increase the production of Algerian gas by 10 billion cubic meters, starting in 2024. These additional quantities allow for meeting demand, in particular international contracts. With regard to crude oil, production will increase by 20 million tons of equivalent petroleum, to reach 210 million tons”. He also noted how his country di lui intends to invest between 20 to 25 billion dollars in the production of green hydrogen by 2035 and transport it to Europe through a new pipeline that will connect it to Italy.

Just in 2022 alone, Algeria produced approximately 130 billion cubic meters of gas in 2022, among these, 56 billion were exported and it consumed roughly 50 billion on the internal market. The rest has gone into oil and gas well with the objective of increasing the rates of recovery.
