Algeria state-owned company during the week has attested that “A data center of Algeria Telecom was inaugurated today at the level of the Wilaya [province] of Constantine, where this project was fully completed by the teams of Algeria Telecom, which is a real achievement for the institution.”  Algeria Telecommunications Corporation is a state-owned telephone company in Algeria. It is the main telephone company, and the sole operator of the fixed telephony network, and ADSL in the country.

Constantine is located more than 350km east of the capital city, Algiers. Without providing further details, the company said it is also planning to build other data centers across the country.

The specific information of the new facility was not shared but the telco said that the data center is equipped with the latest technology in addition to a cloud platform and will facilitate collecting, processing, and storing enterprise and corporate data. 

The company is part of the Alger-Valencia and Oran-Valencia submarine cable system consortium, with cable landing stations in the capital Algiers and the Ain El-Turck area of Oran connecting to Valencia in Spain.

In 2017, the Telecom Company announced its plans for a new data center near the group’s existing satellite hub in Lakhdaria. There are also more projects planned across the world.
