In response to the global crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution (including chemical products, garbage, and plastics), Angola called for coordinated action by Africa.
The 19th Ordinary Session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN), which was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, saw the official launch of the Caal by Paula Coellho, the Secretary of State for the Environment for Climate Action and Sustainable Development.
Speaking at the event, which was held from August 14 to 18, the official said it was time for Africa to establish a firm agenda to deal with effective waste and chemical management.
Paula Coelho argued for a more aggressive execution of global environmental agreements in her speech.
According to Paula Coelho, the 5th International Conference on Chemical Product Management, which will take place in September in Bonn, Germany, is an opportunity for Africa to make its voice heard by enlisting the participation of all concerned sectors, including health, agriculture, and trade in addition to the environment.
She claimed that in order to take part in the huge event, civil society organizations and the commercial sector must also be enlisted.
Angola presided over the High-Level Dialogues at the Addis Ababa conference, which precedes the African Climate Summit, which will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from September 4 to 6.
The event’s theme focused on the effects of plastic pollution while also addressing climate financing, essential minerals, and environmental protection for human life.
Angola attended the Economic Forum on Scientific Research for Climate Changes after the ministerial meeting, according to a news release from the Angolan diplomatic mission in Addis Abeba that was received by ANGOP on Sunday.
The nation also participated in the discussions on air pollution at the Blue Fund Climate Commission sessions for the Congo Basin. A.D/NIC
