Copa America seeks to invite The Morocco National football team.  According to Brazilian sources, Copa America wants to invite Morocco to participate in the 2024 edition of the tournament as a guest of honor.

Copa America was known until 1975 as the South American Football Championship. It is the top men’s football tournament contested among national teams from South America. It is the third most-watched continental football in the world.

Since the 1990s, North American and Asian teams have also been invited to compete. The tournament has generally featured 12 teams; all 10 South American teams and two additional teams from other confederations.

Owing to its somewhat limited number of registered national football federations, countries from other continents are usually invited to participate to make up the 12 teams necessary for the current tournament format.

The Morocco National football team, nicknamed the Atlas Lions represent Morocco in men’s international football competitions. The team is a member of FIFA and the Confederation of African Football. In the 2022 World Cup, they defied all expectations and topped their group. They then became the first African nation to ever reach the semi-finals. They were placed fourth in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. as of December 2022, they were ranked as the 11th-best national team in the world.
