African Cup of Nations is a football game held by every African nation every two years since 1968. Before it is held, the responsibility of hosting it is conferred by a selected country.
African countries have started submitting their biddings to host the 2025 AFCON. The 2025 edition was originally supposed to be held in Guinea but the Confederation of African Football decided against it.
It is set to be held during the off-season, with AFCON traditionally being held at the beginning of each year.
Zambia, Morocco, and Algeria have expressed their interest to host the AFCON 2025 edition. Nigeria and the Benin Republic have also submitted a joint bid to co-host. In February 2023, the countries will find out whether they will host the competition after CAF has inspected their facilities in January.
The Confederation of African Football advocated that anyone who wishes to host the AFCON 2025 must have a minimum of six stadiums, two of which must accommodate at least 40,000 or more fans while the other four should have at least a 20,000 capacity.
