East Africa’s Telco Expands 5G Coverage Across Kenya.

  • Safaricom 5G coverage has expanded from 11 counties to 21 counties across 28 towns.

East Africa’s telecommunications provider, headquartered in Kenya Safaricom has expanded its 5G coverage to 28 towns across 21 counties in the country providing its customers in 5G areas with superfast internet connectivity for personal and business use.

Since its inception in October 2022, Safaricom’s 5G coverage has expanded from 11 towns to 28 towns across 21 counties including Nairobi, Kiambu, Mombasa, Kisumu, Uasin, Gishy, Nakuru, Garissa, Kajiado, Kisii, Machakos, Kakamega, Kilifi, Siaya, Kericho, Kwale, Laikipia, Marsabit, Meru, Narok, Nyeri, and Vihiga counties.

The telecommunication provider has also introduced personalized 5G data bundles to cater to over 400,000 5G smartphone users at ultra-fast speeds with typical speeds of 400Mbps to 700Mbps. The data bundles can accessible on Tunukiwa through the MySafaricom App, Safaricom.com, or USSD *444#, *544#.

In collaboration with Huawei, Safaricom has established three 5G experience centers in Nairobi, one each in the Village Market, The Hub, and Buruburu Shops. To show Kenyans how 5G may alter their homes and businesses, these centers have virtual reality game areas, smart-home and corporate capabilities, and speed-testing booths.

According to Safaricom, it is continually making network improvements. Its 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks collectively cover 97% of Kenya’s population, and its fiber network has passed more than 450,000 households and businesses.
