As a way to give back to his community, and show gratitude for their contribution to his life and success, the Ghanaian-Liberian actor and comedian, Micheal Blackson who is a Hollywood star based in the United States has recently commissioned a tuition-free ultramodern school in Ghana.
The school named the Michael Blackson Academy is a three-storey complex located in his hometown, Agona Nsaba in the Agona East District of Ghana’s central region.
The Michael Blackson Academy was commissioned on 3rd January, 2023 in a ceremony which was graced by many dignitaries and famous people including the actor’s mother.
In 15 years of being away, the actor visited his homeland Ghana and then the school project was conceived in 2020 which subsequently, he provided an update on the school, as he also took to his twitter to announce the readiness of the building.
Speaking to TheAfricanDream.net, Michael Blackson described as a legacy he plans on leaving for the younger generations, in his words he said: “the school is a legacy, my legacy that i’m leaving for future generations to draw inspiration from”.
Michael Blackson is a philanthropist, actor and comedian born to a Ghanaian father and a Liberian mother who started off his comedy career at the local Philadelphia bars in 1992 after immigration to the United States.
The actor has featured in a number of TV shows, comedy series, films including Coming 2 America, Meet the Blacks (2016), The Savages (2007), Next Friday (2000) are some of Michael’s best known works.
In some instances, the actor is referred to as ‘African King of Comedy’, as he also made appearances on the shows Shaquille O’Neal presents All Star Comedy Jam and Martin Lawrence presents: 1st Amendment stand-up on Starz in 2011.
