The Aga Khan recently funded the construction of the Kibuli Mosque in  Uganda which has, in turn, produced institutions such as the Kibuli Hospital, schools, and other social services.his benevolence has brought him praise from the Kibuli Muslim faction. They expressed this gratitude yesterday, the 16th of April while receiving donations of food and clothing from the Esmaili Community.

“Every time you come here, we receive you with a lot of honor and gratitude because of the foundation the Aga Khan planted here. Badru Kakungulu donated 80 acres of land to construct institutions, which would later benefit many Ugandans,” he said.

Ms. Jasmin Halani, the country leader of the Esmaili Community, said wherever the Esmaili Community lives around the world, they do not believe in racial segregation but in brotherhood. She added that it is the reason they organize programs to show communities what they do. Lately, they have been involved in environmental campaigns such as tree planting, food donations, and health campaigns.

Mr. Azhar Bandali, the chairman of Outreach Council Uganda, said as a community, they teach children from childhood the importance of community service and helping people around them.

He added that the food donation is one of the activities they have undertaken this year. “This year, we fed 1,000 families. The community has a big need because the economy is doing badly. People need things and such programs. We have been given clothes, milk, beans, and cooking oil. We shall continue with donations this whole month of Ramadhan beyond Kampala as we have done in Arua and Lira,” he said.

Aga Khan is a title held by the Imam, they claim descendants from Muhammad, the last prophet according to the doctrine of Islam. The title is agha, which comes from the Old Turkic and Mongolian aqa, meaning elder man, and Khan, which means king or ruler.
