The Senseable Lagos Lab was launched recently by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, making it the first MIT Senseable City research facility in Africa at Isimi Lagos, Epe, Nigeria.
It was officially launched at the maiden edition of the Lagos Future City Week organized by LandWey Investment Ltd, Nigeria’s leading residential real estate company, and also sponsored the initiative in collaboration with the team members of MIT and the Lagos State Government.
Representing the Governor, Solape Hammond, Special Adviser on SDGs and Investment while giving a speech at the epoch-making ceremony, commended LandWey Investment for attracting such a partnership.
Mr. Solape said “The Senseable Lagos Lab launch is a very exciting project for us as it follows our climate adaptation and sustainable resilience plan for Lagos”.
He added that the University of Science and Technology has been recently established will focus on producing graduates who will provide solutions through science and technology.
The goal is to bring together researchers from many academic disciplines to conduct real-time work on groundbreaking ideas through the Senseable Lagos Lab.
Also, work from MIT Senseable City Lab has been showcased in leading venues, among others including the Venice Biennale, the Design Museum Barcelona, and the Canadian Centre for Architecture.
