On Monday, Mr. Smauel Ntsokoane Matekane the Prime Minister of Lesotho revealed a crime-fighting plan while addressing Lesothan on the country’s national television and radio.
During his national address, the Prime Minister said he has reformed an incorporated team from different security sectors to act on the current criminal activities.
Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS), National Security Service, and Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) personnel are prepared to prevent and eradicate crime in the county, he added.
He said that this group’s unified goal is to stop and combat crimes involving heinous human killings, criminal theft, and stock theft.
The Lesotho Constitution, the Internal Security (Arms & Ammunition) Act of 1966, the Internal Security (General) Act of 1984, the LCS Act No. 3 of 2016, the NSS Act No. 11 of 1998 as Amended, and the LDF Act No. 4 of 1996 will all be followed by the new regiment, according to the Prime Minister.
He concluded by ordering individuals engaged in these criminal actions to halt right away, to turn themselves in to the authorities, and to turn over the illicit weaponry to the police.
On the same vein, he urged the populace to embrace this move in order to give Basotho and development partners back their respect for the nation.
