Sammie Okposo was a Nigerian gospel musician born on the 30th of May, 1971. He was from Delta State, Nigeria.
His career in singing dates back to 1992. His career officially started as a producer as a soundtrack producer in the Nigerian movie industry before switching to making music.
He released his first single “welu welu” in 2000 and his first album “unconditional love” in 2000. He was nominated 50 times and won 41 times. His first award was won in 1994, two years after his music career kickstarted. He was the CEO of Zamar records.
He has worked with many local and foreign artists. He performed on several tours and had curated a series of concerts called Sammie Okposo Praise Party (SOPP).
On the 25th of November, 2022 he reportedly slumped in his residence and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. He died at 51 years and is survived by wife and children
His burial is a week-long ceremony that will be wrapped up on Sunday, the 18th of December with an outing service. The funeral service took place on the 15th at Lagos and it was a private affair.
In a statement, the family described the late singer as a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and minister of God.
