Complex just released its list of Top Black Billionaires of the World and Nigerian businessman, Aliko Dangote, and South-African mining businessman, Patrice Motsepe graced the list.
Patrice Motsepe is a South African mining billionaire businessman who has been president of the Confederation of African Football. He is also the founder and executive chairman of African Rainbow Minerals. He sits on several company boards, including being the non-executive chairman of Harmony Gold, the world’s 12th-largest gold mining company, and the chairman of Sanlam. He was named South Africa’s richest man, topping the Sunday Times’ annual Rich list with an estimated fortune of R20.07 billion. He became the owner of Mamelodi Sundowns in 2003.
Aliko Dangote is a Nigerian business magnate. He is the founder, chairman, and CEO of the Dangote group, the largest industrial conglomerate in West Africa. According to Bloomberg Billionaire’s index, his net worth is estimated at US$18.7 billion as of January 2023. This makes him the richest black person in the world. The Dangote group was established in 1977 as a small trading firm. Of late, the company employs more than 11,000 people in West Africa. He became Nigeria’s first billionaire in 2007.
Black billionaires are individuals who are predominantly of African ancestry with a net worth of at least US$1 billion.
