UGANDA: AIRTEL LAUNCHES ITS FIRST FIBRE-TO-THE-HOME SERVICES.

  • Airtel Uganda has launched its first fibre-to-the-home services for residential and business users.
  • Connectivity from this service is being offered at peak download rates of 10Mbps, 20Mbps, and 50Mbps, according to a report from Capital Radio Uganda.
  • Airtel already offers fixed broadband connectivity via its 4G LTE network.

 

 

Airtel Uganda has launched its first fibre-to-the-home services for residential and business users.

 

 

The new service is called Airtel Xtreme and it is available at 125 locations in the capital Kampala there are plans for further expansion in Kampala and beyond.

 

 

Connectivity is being offered at peak download rates of 10Mbps, 20Mbps, and 50Mbps, according to a report from Capital Radio Uganda.

 

 

The Marketing Director at Airtel said, “Our fiber-to-the-home service is designed for all homes and businesses with multiple internets needs across multiple devices through a reliable fiber cable connection … We are putting the right physical and digital infrastructure in place to support the growing communication needs of Greater Kampala residents and businesses. Airtel is laying more fiber, upgrading sites, and innovating solutions ahead of the needs of our custom”. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that Airtel already offers fixed broadband connectivity via its 4G LTE network.

 

 

Africans are doing everything necessary to improve internet connectivity in the continent and improve communication, which is commendable.
