In the spirit of the New Year celebrations, gift items consisting of birth kits an baby gear were donated to more than 120 new moms in some Primary Healthcare Centers located across the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (F.C.T).
Among six primary healthcare centers that were visited includes Aleyita primary healthcare in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Dutse Alhaji primary healthcare in Bwari Area Counicl, and Township Clinic primary healthcare in Gwagwalada Area Council.
Others include Kuje Comprehensive Healthcare in Kuje Area Council, Township Clinic primary healthcare in Abaji Area Council and also the Township Clinic primary healthcare in Kwali.
The gift items were donated by the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Ramatu Aliyu, who also gave a token of some amount of cash to few nursing mothers.
At the Kuje Comprehensive healthcare center, the Minister characterized the successful delivery recorded in various primary healthcare centers as a thing of joy and prayed that the joy extend to the FCT in 2023 and beyond.
During her speech, the Minister who was represented by the Director of Administration and Finance, FCT Social Development Secretariat, Mrs Justina Pawa urged mothers to accept all vaccines given during government approved immunization campaigns.
She also spoke on continuous implementation and support initiatives that has been put in place to improve the healthcare of mothers and children.
In appreciation to her efforts in boosting community health, the head of the Aleyita community presented the Minister with a gift of food items, which was the highlight of the event.
